Learning Outcomes

Holistic Approach to Client Care covers the skills required to be able to respond appropriately to clients that have a range of issues outside and in addition to the area of immediate focus, expertise or interests of the personnel and their organisation including: establishing interpersonal relationships with clients; analysing and assessing information to determine the appropriate course of action to be followed; referring clients to other services to provide co-ordinated support and reviewing the effectiveness of services provided to meet client needs.


 

Course Content

Establish Interpersonal Client Relationships

How can you establish a trusting and respectful relationship with clients? How can you assist the client in identifying areas of concern? What information do you need to share with clients about options and available services, to enable them to make informed decisions?
 
 

Identify and Access Clients Needs

What are the indicators of harm, neglect, abuse or risk of harm, and how can you learn to identify these and pick up presenting issues? How does the organisations procedures for collecting and analysing client information work?

Determine the course of action to follow

How can you analyse and assess information in order to determine the most appropriate course of action to follow? What are the legal requirements and duty of care obligations in responding to indicators of risk of abuse, neglect or harm? How can you identify and prioritise client’s needs and available sources and how do you identify the organisation’s capacity to meet these needs?

Provide and Review Support

How can you identify a client’s need for support both internal and external to the organisation? What are the appropriate procedures to address for potential emergency or crisis situations? How can you best comply
